Once I have inked the background, I erase all of my pencil
lines. I use a Pigma felt tipped art pen for my
inking, and it does fade a little when I erase the pencils
using a shapeable art eraser. But unless it fades almost completely, my
scanner will pick up the line just fine. If the line
looks too light, I go over it with the pen again after erasing. At
this stage, I also add in some of the final details I may
have missed before erasing the pencil lines.
At this point, I am done with the physical part of my
comic-making process. The rest will be done on the
computer. I scan the comic into my computer at 900
DPI, greyscale not color, and open the image in Photoshop.
