Goldentree Wands Newsletter Issue: 21 Date: May 11, 2007
MERRY MEET!
It is merely, May 11, and yet, here in Idaho, summer is in full swing! With the temperatures soaring above 80 degrees F in our office, nighttime BBQs are becoming quite popular. At this time of year, many changes are occurring in all of us. Graduations, weddings, and family reunions make summer time a very memorable time of year. On June 1st, Goldentree Wands will be celebrating our 2nd anniversary!! Now, we've been around since 2003, however, this has been a serious (and legal) endeavor since June 1, 2005, when we made the move from California to Idaho, and acquired our business license. Seeing as how we cannot remember the exact date of "conception," celebrating a 2 year anniversary in Idaho, just makes sense. Also, on June 16th, Glen and Willow will be celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary- it feels more like 8 years, but that's beside the point. We'd like to wish all of you a congratulations on your life changes and accomplishments and have a safe and happy summer!

LITHA-
Litha
marks the height of the Sun's power, from the 22nd forward, he slowly wanes and decreases
in his powers. This is also the time of the year when the Goddess is full of
pregnancy just as the earth is full of the harvest to come. Fires are
prominent in all Sabbats, but as this could be the hottest day of the year,
fires are all the more symbolic. The Celts would light fires all over their
lands from the sunset before Litha to the sunset the day after Litha and perform
their rituals and have their feasts around these fires. In Scotland, Cerridwen
the Crone Goddess is celebrated by lighting fires in the cauldron which
represents life, death, and rebirth. In Greece, mock funerals were held the
night after Litha for the start of the harvest season to come.

Ellen Dugan, author of Garden Witchery and The Enchanted Cat, will be at Goddessfest this year to sign books and give classes such as: "Imagine, Yourself as an Advanced Practitioner ".

We're also working (as we have yet to discuss the details) on having our friend Anann, give Iridology and Nutritional information by donation as well. There will be lots to do at the festival and at our booth and the Magwicks booth, so if you're in the Boise area the last weekend of July, stop by to say hi. We'd love to see you!
LITHA INCENSE:
3 parts Frankincense 2 parts Benzoin 1 part Dragon's Blood 1 part Thyme 1 part Rosemary 1 part Vervain
Mix all ingredients in your Mortar and Pestle and burn on a charcoal disk to celebrate Litha. All above ingredients and charcoal can be purchased from Willow's Herb Cellar.
LITHA RECIPE FOR CAMPING:
Hotdogs!
Find the perfect camping spot where you can relax with your family and enjoy nature. When ready, start your camp fire. While the fire is burning, send the kids out to hunt for "hot dog sticks." When the coals are nice and hot, open the hot dog package. Place a dog on the end of each "hot dog stick" and cook your hot dog to perfection. Either eat your hot dog off the stick or put it in a hot dog bun. Yum!!
S'MORES:
We've been surprised to hear how many people have never made s'mores!
Hershey's Chocolate Bar Large bag of large marshmallows Gram Crackers
Use the "hot dog sticks" from the recipe above. Burn the hot dog juice off the stick before using to make s'mores. Place a marshmallow at the end of your stick and "cook" your marshmallow. When it looks melted but not burnt (unless you like them that way) place the marshmallow on a gram cracker. Place a chocolate square on top of the marshmallow, then another gram cracker on top of that. You'll be screaming, "I want s'more!" When you've had a taste of this delicious summer time dessert.
From Goldentree Wands to you, Happy Litha! See you at Goddessfest!
Bright Blessings, Happy Tidings and May the Goddess Bless you all, Glen, Willow, Pandora, Bandit, and Ashtoreth Goldentree )O( ~An’ Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will~ )O( |
