MERRY MEET!
Welcome to the first Goldentree Wands Newsletter of 2007! We hope that you are enjoying yourself in this New Year of promise, and that Yule proved to be a wonderful time for all. As the days start getting longer again, some of us are still plagued with very cold weather and storms. May this newsletter find you safe, warm, and watching the seasons move by once again. Since the holiday season is behind us, we have lowered our prices on our custom cloaks and robes and custom wands. So, if you were wondering what to spend that holiday money on...look no further.

IMBOLC-
Imbolc AKA Imbolg, Oimelc/g, Candlemas, Brigantia, Lupercus, and Disting, which is celebrated on February 2nd was not originally a Sabbat. It was just a special day to celebrate the Goddess turning the Wheel of the Year back to spring. The Goddess honored at this time is Brighid of Ireland, Venus of Roman Culture, Diana of Greek culture, and St. Blaize of France. Venus is the Goddess of Love, Diana and Brighid are the Virgin Bride awaiting her young Sun God, and Blaize the Saint of Winter Protection and Healing. This is the time when the Crone phase of the Goddess is ending and the Maiden phase begins. A tradition on this Sabbat is to light fires or candles to lure the Sun back after hiding all winter. NEW PRODUCTS FOR THE NEW YEAR:
As we move into the future, Goldentree Wands aims to make our business more efficient for our customers. Until recently, all of our products would take up to four weeks for completion. We realized that it's difficult for anyone to wait for something so special, so we've now changed some of our products to be available the next Tuesday. Such as most of our jewelry, candle holders, chalices, scrying mirrors, and Witchstone Kits.
Wiccan Spell Kits for all occasions. From cleansing a new home to enhancing your dreams, our spell kits are perfect for any time of the year and any person of any age and experience:
Candles are important to many rituals and Sabbats, so we've added an entire selection of various colored candles, along with new designs on our hand-painted candle holders.
Custom Altar Cloths, New Pewter Jewelry featuring faeries and wolves, and Smudge Sticks are just a few of our other new products that we've added since November.
IMBOLC INCENSE:
3 parts Frankincense 2 parts Dragon's Blood 1/2 part Red Sandalwood 1 part Red Rose Petals and Leaves
Mix all ingredients in your Mortar and Pestle and burn on a charcoal disk to celebrate Imbolc and encourage the sun to join us once again. To add an extra special touch to your Imbolc Incense, add the first flower of the year picked on Imbolc. All above ingredients and charcoal, with the exception of your personally picked flower, can be purchased from Willow's Herb Cellar.
BRIGID'S FRESH HERBED CHEESE:
By: K.D. Spitzer We made this cheese last year for Imbolc and loved it so much that we had to include it with this year's newsletter. We take no credit for this delicious recipe by K.D. Spitzer
4 cloves garlic, minced 1 tsp. salt 1/4 cup any fresh herbs, minced (blend any: rosemary, chives, dill, parsley, sage, thyme, chervil, basil) 8 oz. cream cheese 1/2 cup sour cream 1/4 cup heavy cream 8 oz. small-curd cottage cheese
Make a paste with garlic, salt, and herbs. Beat the cream cheese until fluffy and, while beating, add first the creams and then the cottage cheese. Beat in the herbs until well blended.
Line a colander with 2 layers of cheesecloth and spoon in cheese. Knot opposite corners and suspend over a bowl to drain for 24 hours (or hang over the faucet to drip in the sink). Retie as needed to compact the cheese. Remove to a plate, seam side down, and chill until serving. Can be rolled in fresh chopped parsley and served with water crackers.
CINNAMON BASIL HONEY:
Cinnamon and Basil are wonderful herbs to bring prosperity into your home. For the New Year, you can either burn these as an incense or make this delicious honey, from Celtic Folklore Cooking, by Joanne Asala
1 cup honey 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon brandy 1 sprig cinnamon basil
Combine the honey, cinnamon, and brandy in a saucepan over low heat. Place the sprig of basil in a sterilized jar and pour the honey over it. Seal and age for at least a week before using. You can add it to waffles, pancakes, French toast, vanilla ice cream, yogurt and fruit.
We hope you enjoy Imbolc and have a Happy and Prosperous 2007. From Goldentree Wands to you, Happy New Year!
Bright Blessings, Happy Tidings and May the Goddess Bless you all, Glen, Willow, Pandora, Bandit, and Ashtoreth Goldentree )O( ~An’ Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will~ )O( |
